Congratulations to the 39 new Medical Laboratory Scientists who graduated on Saturday from our joint program with ˿����Ƶ Health & Science University (OHSU). Medical laboratory scientists are the individuals that perform some of the crucial testing currently happening for the diagnosis of coronavirus. A recent article in The New York Times stressed the importance of laboratory professionals: “In the absence of trained workers to process and analyze the nation’s tests, America’s diagnostic infrastructure will not merely wrinkle and slow, experts said.

After a 10-year hiatus from college, Danielle Garcia returned to ˿����Ƶ Tech and was accepted into the highly competitive Medical Lab Science program, which included relocating to Wilsonville to begin the intense 18-month program with 15 months of classes and labs followed by three months at an externship site.
